DOT's $3M engineering study on Route 9A aims to improve roadway's safety

The state Department of Transportation has begun work on a $3 million engineering study on a section of Route 9A, also known as the Briarcliff-Peekskill Parkway.

The goal is to identify short-term and longer-term efforts to improve safety and operations along the corridor.

The study will take about 10 months.

Motorists have complained about the poor quality of the road, including poor drainage when it rains and lack of a breakdown lane along with its many intersections.
