Police are asking for the public’s help identifying two people who they say assaulted and robbed a 73-year-old man Wednesday afternoon in Melrose.

Police say the duo approached the victim at the crossroads of East 149th Street and Wales Avenue.

They threw him to the ground, hit him repeatedly and then snatched his necklace.

The other suspect also took his cellphone before the duo fled the scene on foot, .
