Wednesday marked two weeks since New York lifted its indoor mask mandate for schools.
Many education leaders are calling the first two weeks of mask choice a success, with COVID cases in schools continuing to drop.
The statewide COVID positivity rate since the mandate was lifted on March  has stayed below 2% - a positive trend.
White Plains, one of Westchester's larger school districts, has seen some of its lowest COVID-19 numbers from the beginning of the pandemic since students returned from winter break on Feb. 28.
White Plains Schools had nearly 400 cases in the first week of January but reported just five last week.
"We're still going to have to make sure we're monitoring and doing our part to keep everyone healthy and safe but at the same time this is good news, and these are good numbers," says White Plains Superintendent of Schools Joseph Ricca.
