Education officials are giving an "F" to the idea of middle schools in the Bronx and the rest of the city.According to the New York Post, almost 50 middle schools throughout the city have been reconfigured in the last three years. The schools now go from either kindergarten to eighth-grade or sixth-grade to 12th-grade. A study from 2002 claimed that middle school age students in under-performing grammar schools did better than students in poor middle schools. The report says the traditional middle school is still the norm around the country even though there is a trend to replace middle schools with ones that serve more grades.
