A former New York police officer has been sentenced to prison in a federal case involving bribery and drug crimes.
Andrew Nguyen, 41, of Harriman, was sentenced Friday to seven and a half years in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Nguyen pleaded guilty in January to charges including bribery, narcotics and firearms offenses.
Authorities say he received thousands of dollars in bribes.
In return, officials say he helped the leader of a drug trafficking organization by transporting drugs and providing armed protection.
In addition to his prison sentence, Nguyen will serve three years of supervised release.
