The daughter of a Long Island pizzeria employee who was stabbed at work is revealing the toll the attack has taken on her family.
Taylor Gonzalez, daughter of Salvatore Polizzi, says her father is in a medically induced coma at Stony Brook University Hospital.
“He is awfully hurt, brutally stabbed, in critical condition and we don’t know what’s going to happen from here,”
Gonzalez shared with News 12. The 60-year-old father and beloved employee at Gino’s of Nesconset was allegedly attacked by a co-worker Sunday morning while on the job.
Authorities say the suspect, 34-year-old Paul Albinagorta, allegedly stabbed Polizzi following a dispute between the two at the pizzeria, located on Smithtown Boulevard.
Albinagorta was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with assault and menacing.
His defense attorney has claimed that the incident was a case of self-defense, alleging that the victim and another individual were "ganging up" on his client.
"It seems to be a case of two on one self-defense," said Pierre Bazile, Albinagorta's lawyer.
The suspect appeared before a judge Monday, and bail was set at $250,000 cash.
