5h agoAn exhaust fan in one of the Nyack Plaza Apartments may have caused the fire that displaced 13 families on Tuesday, police said.
"Unsafe" signs are now posted on many of the building's doors. Several residents are staying in a local hotel as they wait for updates.
The American Red Cross says it is helping 29 adults and eight children affected by the fire.
One cat that was unaccounted for during the fire was later found safe inside its owner's unit.
