Overlook Farm in Newburgh has been family
run and owned since 1887 and is a great holiday destination for a Road
Trip: Close to Home.
Co-owner James
Lyons says the farm was started by his great-grandfather in 1887 with 21 acres.
They now farm 400 acres, growing vegetables, peaches, pears and selling
directly to customers.
They
offer fresh-cut
Christmas trees. Not only will they give your tree a fresh cut but will net it and help you get
it onto your car.
They also offer fresh sandwichs and baked goods. "We
called today to see if they had a coconut creme pie and she said they're just
coming out of the oven. We're looking forward to eating it probably in
the car on the way home," laughs one customer.
"About 15 years ago I decided to make $1
turkey sandwich. Everybody was coming, what is this, what's going on? The
dollar menu was created by McDonald's because they copied us," says
co-owner Nina Penny.
"We've worked 24 hours, 7 days a week for
our entire life and we've enjoyed it, and I don't believe that we've ever overlooked anything here at the
farm," says Lyons.
