A fast-moving fire destroyed a home in Rockland County Wednesday morning.
Hillcrest firefighters say the call came in around 6:43 a.m. about a fire on Route 202 in Wesley Hills, a village in the town of Ramapo.
Officials tell News 12 the homeowners got out and were taken to a hospital for evaluation. Fire officials say no first responders were injured.
The home sits far above the street at the end of a long driveway and needed about 1,300 feet of hose stretched out to reach the home. Hillcrest Fire Chief Peter Gessner told News 12 how they responded considering the fire was so large. "At that point, it's just surround and drown it and get the fire down. There was no chance of getting inside to make an attempt as long as the homeowners and everyone else was safely out of the house."
At least two vehicles were also destroyed.
Fire investigators have not released a cause yet.
