Fatal pedestrian-car accident closed southbound New York State Thruway overnight

State police say it happened around 1 a.m. near Mile Marker 44 and Exit 16 in Harriman, near Woodbury Commons.

All lanes of the southbound New York State Thruway were closed in Orange County after a fatal pedestrian-car accident.
State police say it happened around 1 a.m. near Mile Marker 44 and Exit 16 in Harriman, near Woodbury Commons.
Traffic was diverted to Route 17 South and motorist were directed to get back on the thruway in Sloatsburg.
The lanes reopened around 5 a.m.
It is unknown yet why the pedestrian was on the thruway.
