Hundreds turned out yesterday for the funeral of FDNY firefighter Gary Valentino, who died suddenly on Friday at his firehouse in the Bronx.
Valentino, a 12-year veteran of the FDNY, was laid to rest at St. Stephens's Cemetery in Warwick after a funeral procession marked with purple bunting.
Valentino was serving as a chief's aide at Engine 72 in Throngs Neck when he died due to a long-term heart condition.
For many firefighters who attended the funeral, they said it was like losing a brother.
