Exclusive video shows 11-year-old boy on scooter hit by car in Sheepshead Bay
Video obtained exclusively by News 12 shows a boy riding on a scooter in the middle of an intersection in Sheepshead Bay before getting hit by a car.
Police say it happened just after 5 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Bedford Avenue and Avenue Y in Sheepshead Bay.
They said the boy was 11 years old and was taken to the hospital where he is expected to be OK.
News 12 spoke with a girl who wanted to remain anonymous but says she was on the playground of a park on that corner and saw it when it happened.
“I saw a car hit him, and then he fell backwards and he hit his head, and I saw blood. Me and my friends ran. I started crying and I felt really bad for the kid my friends were trying to calm me down," she said.
News 12 also spoke with parents like Yulia Rozenthal, who says because of traffic in the area, she always walks with her daughter.
"She also rides scooters and bicycles, so getting across the street is really stressful," said Rosenthal.
Police say the driver remained on the scene.
