Members of Emergency Medical Services in Woodbury were happy to not be busy Thursday because that meant residents heeded warnings to take it easy during the heat wave.
In fact, officials report very few heat-related injuries during the past couple of days as the mercury climbed toward 100 degrees. For those who had to work outside in the sweltering heat, many said they made sure they drank lots of water and took breaks often. Cooling centers and extended pool hours also made beating the heat easier.
Better news is on the horizon for the people of Orange County as forecasters say the humidity will break and temperatures will go back into the 80s by Friday.
