A yeshiva in Kiryas Joel was evacuated Tuesday afternoon after flames tore through a dormitory building.
The fire started at around 4 p.m. at the UTA boys? school on Berdichev Drive. Firefighters who arrived on the scene quickly got the blaze under control, breaking several windows to keep flames from spreading.
Officials say everyone was able to escape the blaze unharmed. Most of the students were not in the dormitory rooms at the time of the fire.
Investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the blaze, but officials in Kiryas Joel say welders were doing work at the school shortly before the incident.
