A firefighter is recovering this morning after a fire at a home in Yonkers Monday night.

The fire began under a kitchen sink and spread through the walls into the attic, according to the Yonkers Fire Department. Crews quickly put out the flames.

Assistant Chief Peter Connolly said snow made it difficult for ladder companies to reach the building. He said units arrived to find smoke coming from the home before conducting a primary search and extinguishing the fire.

No other injuries were reported.
