A fire broke out overnight at a popular salon in Cypress Hills, leaving behind heavy damage but no reported injuries.
The FDNY said flames started around 2:30 a.m. at The Chair, a one-story commercial building located on Crescent Street between Ridgewood Avenue and Kiely Place. The fire was brought under control in less than an hour.
Salon owner Tashana Miles, who has styled celebrities including Beyoncé and Frank Ocean, told News 12 she had just closed up a few hours before the fire.
“I just left there a few hours ago, and everything was fine,” she said over the phone. “It’s unbelievable — I’m still trying to figure out what happened.”
Miles said the damage might have started near her salon dryers. She also mentioned that she had recently upgraded the space just six months ago.
“Clients came yesterday and complimented how beautiful the space is,” she added.
Known for serving both celebrities and everyday clients, The Chair has built a reputation for creating a welcoming and stylish environment.
“All types of people come there — celebrities, locals. It’s a place where people come to unwind,” said Miles.
The FDNY is still investigating the cause of the fire.
