A fire devastated Dykes Lumber in Tallman Monday night.
Fortunately, the blaze was spotted by a firefighter at Tallman?s Volunteer Fire Company located across the street from the lumberyard. Almost a dozen different fire departments responded to the blaze that destroyed a door factory that was part of the lumberyard on Route 59.
Officials say firefighters managed to save two trucks that were parked against the burning building. Because of the heat and humidity, five firefighters were rushed to the hospital for heat exhaustion. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
