Fire leaves Sloatsburg family without a home

Investigators looking into cause of fire that left Sloatsburg family homeless.

A family is without their home Monday after a fire in Rockland County.

The fire broke out Sunday afternoon on Birch Road in Sloatsburg.

Fire officials tell News 12 the fire started in a bedroom and extended into the attic and hallway.

Three neighboring departments assisted to put out the fire.

The Sloatsburg chief says one firefighter rescued a dog that had run back into the burning home.

It took about a half hour to put the fire out.

Thankfully, there were no injuries.

Investigators are looking into the cause.
