Another firefighter who survived the plunge that took the lives of two firefighters in the Bronx took the stand Tuesday in the "Black Sunday" trial.

Brendan Cawley told jurors he was four weeks removed from the fire academy when he and other firefighters responded to a blaze at an East 178th Street building in 2005. Cawley described the efforts he and Lt. Curtis Meyran took to escape the building before leaping from the fourth floor.

Cawley survived. Meyran and firefighter John Bellew were killed in the fall.

Cesar Rios, the building's landlord, Rafael Castillo and Caridad Coste are facing manslaughter charges at the Bronx Hall of Justice for allegedly contributing to the deaths of Meyran and Bellew by building illegal partitions in the building.
