Firefighters battled a brush fire in Garnerville Monday, the third one in Rockland County this season.

Officials say the brush fire, which was near homes bordering Hi Tor State Park, scorched several acres of land. West Haverstraw firefighters were joined by firefighters from Thiells and Stony Point to battle the fire in dry and windy conditions.

Fire officials are warning residents not to light fires outdoors during dry seasons. An investigation into Monday's fire is ongoing.
