Two firefighters who rescued a Havestraw man bound to a wheelchair who was stuck in his bedroom during an apartment fire in June were honored over the weakened.
The ice cream shop, Riverside Scoops, honored Randy Taveras and Jerry Crowley Friday during their fundraiser. The two men also received awards from county executive Ed Day and Sen. Bill Weber.
Steven Pflaum, the man who was rescued, was in attendance as well.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward replacing Pflaum’s medical equipment. A GoFundMe has also been set up.
