Authorities say a former president of the Ramapo Valley Ambulance Corps has been arrested for falsifying business records, a felony.

Officials say Jonathan Mase, of Suffern, covered up for first responders who falsely reported employment and medical-treatment information to benefit themselves and the corps.

Mase is also accused of falsifying documents to cover up crimes that were committed over several years within the corps, according to prosecutors.

Donald Feerick, an attorney representing the ambulance corps, says Mase has taken a voluntary leave of absence and that several board members and EMTs have been removed from their positions. Feerick says the corps is cooperating with the district attorney's office and is also conducting an internal investigation.
