A former state trooper has been acquitted of murder in Ulster County in connection with a chase that killed an 11-year-old girl in 2020.

Christopher Baldner, 52, was accused of ramming his car into an SUV during the high-speed chase on the New York State Thruway. Monica Goods, of Brooklyn, was killed.

The jury was deadlocked on a manslaughter charge. The judge presiding over the trial said he will schedule a new trial on the manslaughter count.

The State Attorney General's Office, which prosecuted the case, said they look forward to returning to court.

Baldner retired two years after the incident.
