A forum was held in Carmel Monday night to address a series of student-created racist social media posts that surfaced last month.

The meeting was about three weeks after district officials said three high school students were responsible for making a series of racist and threatening TikTok videos.

The videos included the fake audio over a video of the middle school principal saying racial slurs. Another depicted a school shooting targeting Black and Hispanic students.

Parents said they felt the students should've been charged criminally, that the district was not transparent about the incident. They say that the district has a history of giving a pass to racism in the classroom.

The Carmel superintendent of schools declined to answer News 12's questions about these allegations, but she said the district will come up with a student wellness plan with the information they learned at the meeting.

Parents are expected to attend Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting and the district could share more information about the incident in a letter going out as early as Wednesday.
