Family and friends in Blauvelt are mourning the death of Sgt. Edward Bolen, who was killed while in Afghanistan on Wednesday.
His father, Walter Bolen, says Edward was a 100-percent American hero and a fun-loving 25-year-old with so much ahead of him.
Bolen did a tour in Iraq and just left for Afghanistan a few weeks ago. His father said he had been looking forward to getting out of the military and getting on with his life with his new bride.
Bolen leaves behind a wife who he married just two months ago.
