Multiple reports of a natural gas or propane odor throughout the Village of Goshen on Thursday caused the evacuation of several buildings, according to police.
Authorities say the calls were in areas of the village near Route 17. Village of Goshen police, NYSEG and the Goshen Fire Department responded.
News 12 received a call from a relative of a person evacuated, which prompted an inquiry to police.
Officials say no leak was found and the source of the odor was believed to be from a passing propane tanker truck operating with an open valve.
The Goshen Fire Department issued a reminder for people to call 911 if a gas leak is suspected, if hissing is heard from a natural gas or propane line, or if bubbling is seen in standing water where a strong odor is present.
