Yonkers grandparents who are primary caregivers were given a special Thanksgiving meal Monday.

Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D-35) partnered with ShopRite of Greenway Plaza and local organizations to distribute 100 Thanksgiving turkeys.

"I am very grateful for grandparents, who in the absence of their children's ability to step in and actually become the parent," says the state Senate majority leader.

Fifty turkeys went to grandparents, while another 50 will go to churches and organizations.
