One Bronx skate shop is encouraging graffiti artists to tag their works on canvases as opposed to the sides of buildings.
The Graph Skate Two event was put together by Henry Pena, owner of the HeavenBound 7 skate shop in Claremont Village. This year featured artists from all five boroughs.
The purpose was to bring the community together by highlighting the positivity spray painting, or "tagging," brings when done correctly.
Pena says he plans to take the pieces created at the event to the Bronx Museum of the Arts and the Bronx Council of Arts. If all else fails, he says he will host private galleries of the work.
