A Yonkers man has been charged in a New Rochelle stabbing. The stabbing happened early Monday morning at the intersection of North Avenue and Clinton Place around 1:30 a.m. Police say a 23-year-old New Rochelle man said he had been stabbed and gave them a description of the suspect and the vehicle. The victim is now in stable condition at a hospital. Police arrested and charged 34-year-old Peter Ortega with assault. Officials say the stabbing appears to have stemmed from a previous dispute between the two men.
Poughkeepsie police have made arrests in a nearly three-year-old homicide. The body of 64-year-old Paul Thompson was found in his apartment at 399 Main St. after police were asked to make a welfare check. His death was ruled a homicide. On Sunday, police arrested 45-year-old Consuelo Leonard and 35-year-old Rodarius Smith, both of Poughkeepsie. They were charged with second-degree murder and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
