A Somers man, known locally as the "Voice of Iona College
basketball" and the "Voice of the Westchester County Center,"
was arrested Tuesday and charged with receiving and possessing videos and
images containing child porn. According to the U.S. attorney for the
Southern District of New York, Richard Leaf, 72, allegedly had "deeply
disturbing sexual communications with minors." Leaf is charged with
one count of receiving child pornography, which carries a mandatory minimum
sentence of 5 years in prison and a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, and
one count of possessing child pornography, which carries a maximum sentence of
10 years in prison
A fire broke out at a home on Scott Avenue in Yonkers Tuesday. Local
fire departments responded to the scene to put it out, but no word yet on if
there were any injuries or if the cause of the fire is
known.
Yonkers residents who live in apartments with a slew of problems are
hoping they will soon have an ally. Mold, chipping ceilings, roaches,
rats - are just a few
problems residents living in section right housing on Highland Avenue say
they've had for years. The Yonkers City Council has voted to create a Tenants Association Board as
a place for residents to voice concerns about where they live.
