NWS ALERTS: Extreme Heat Warning is posted through Tuesday evening. While Wednesday may fall short of criteria for this warning, it can still feel like near 100 degrees. On top of this, an Air Quality Alert is in effect until 11 p.m. and will likely be re-issued for tomorrow due to elevated ground level ozone. This is the type of air quality alert we are most accustomed to on these very hot and humid days.
Today is going to be the hottest day of the year so far across the lower Hudson Valley! Extreme heat can cause heat-related illness in a hurry if you are not taking frequent breaks and staying hydrated. Please be careful! The worst of the heat will be through tomorrow with feels like temperatures around or exceeding 105 degrees from around 12 pm to 8 pm each day. Wednesday, while slightly better, will still feel like near 100 degrees.
By Wednesday, this will likely become an official heatwave as Wednesday is expected to be our third straight day of 90 degrees or higher air temperatures. Each day is expected to set a new record high temperature in White Plains, too!
Please remember to check on your pets, too and keep them off the incredibly hot pavement!
There is the chance for a late-day shower or thunderstorm on Wednesday. This will begin to allow us to transition into better feeling conditions for the end of the week, especially Friday and through the upcoming weekend.
Have a great Monday and stay heat smart!
