The last time the temperatures hit at least 90 degrees in May was 2018, and the last few years haven't been particularly close.
According to data from the National Weather Service, the hottest temps measured at Westchester County Airport in May the last few years were 85 in 2019, 83 in 2020, and 86 in 2021 -- never touching 90.
Basic safety measures include finding a place with air conditioning, staying in the shade and keeping hydrated.
Even though the beaches aren't officially open, think twice about jumping in the water to cool down.
Water temperatures will be in the 50s, which could lead to hypothermia in 10 minutes and increase your risk of drowning.
