Homeland Security: Agent shot at knife-wielding driver in self-defense on Cross County Parkway
A Homeland Security agent is accused of pulling the trigger. However, the Homeland Security says the agent responded in self-defense.

15h agoA road rage incident on the Cross County Parkway involving an on-duty Homeland Security agent led to a shooting on Wednesday.
Police say it happened on the westbound side of the parkway around 4 p.m. on the parkway by North Columbus Avenue in Mount Vernon.
According to investigators, a driver cut off the agent, then both pulled over. The driver got out of his car with a knife in his hand and approached the agent's car.
Police say that the Homeland Security agent shot the driver in self-defense.
The diver who was shot was taken to the hospital with what News 12 is told was an injury that was not life-threatening, and is expected to recover.
The agent was not injured but was undergoing medical evaluation afterward. No names have been released at this point.
Westchester County police are working with Homeland Security on the investigation and they are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or may have caught anything on video to call county police at (800) 898-TIPS.
