Hours at Westchester polling locations extended because of heavy turnout

The Westchester County Board of Elections in White Plains is extending the hours at polling locations due to the huge wave of early voting taking place in the Hudson Valley.
The changes are designed to hopefully help with the incredibly long lines and hours of waiting voters have had to endure since early voting began in the area on Saturday.
People have been complaining about lines that stretched around the block and having to wait several hours in order to cast their ballots. Part of the problem is that there are only two machines at each site. As a result, all 17 voting locations are now open for an extra hour for the remainder of the early voting period, which runs through Sunday.
The number of poll workers and check-in stations at each early voting center has also been increased. The schedule now looks like this:
  • Wednesday, Oct. 28, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 29, 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 30, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 31, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • (except Mt. Kisco Memorial Complex: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. due to Halloween event)
  • Sunday, Nov. 1, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
