It's been three days since a historic blizzard hit the tri-state area, and many residents are still snowed in.
News 12 has received several calls and emails from Yonkers residents sharing their frustration about how unplowed roads are impacting their daily lives.
"Well, I can't go to work," said Zachery Bryant, Sr.
Bryant lives on Moquette Row South, which is a dead-end street.
Dead-end streets are usually cleared last by Department of Public Works crews. However, this street in particular is tiny and cars line both sides of it. Large mounds of snow remain in the middle.
"This is crazy. They need to do something about this real soon - like, yesterday," said Bryant.
Bryant says he is a nurse's assistant. He's scheduled to be back at work Thursday night for an overnight shift and calling off isn't an option. He says for the first time in a long time, he'll probably have to take a taxi.
"I have to be there, not only for my patients, but for my coworkers," he said.
Residents living on Lennon Avenue are dealing with similar issues.
"I can't get in trouble with my job. I have to be here at work," said Lexie Mauer.
Mauer lives on another dead-end street. News 12 checked it out for themselves and found it was difficult to drive on. The news crew was forced to drive slowly.
"People rely on me and it affects my boyfriend's work too because it's not like he has a normal job. He has to take care of his mom," said Mauer.
One resident has taken it upon himself to help out his neighbors to try to ease the burden.
"I have this machine. I use it for work, so I cleared a few spots and one thing led to another and I went the whole length of the block," said Edmund Kelly.
DPW crews have asked for patience as they work to clear streets.
