Huge crowds of parishioners filled St. John the Baptist Church in Yonkers throughout Easter Sunday, coming together to celebrate one of the most important holidays in the Christian faith.

From early morning services through the afternoon, the atmosphere inside the church was joyful, as attendees marked the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Families, longtime parishioners, and visitors alike took part in the celebration, which emphasized faith, reflection and renewal.

Church members prayed, sang hymns, and received Communion as part of the Easter services, with messages centered on hope, love, and the enduring presence of God.

The parish held three services over the course of the day. Following the services, many parishioners headed off to celebrate Easter with family and friends.

Easter in the Catholic Church marks the beginning of a 50-day season that continues through Pentecost.
