Hundreds of angry taxpayers in Rockland packed a public hearing on the county's budget last night.
The protesters are demanding that proposed budget cuts for next year get restored.
Most of the anger was directed at County Executive Scott Vanderhoef and his budget proposal that includes hundreds of layoffs and cuts to non-mandated programs.
Vanderhoeff says preparing the budget was extremely difficult because the county has to close a $52 million budget gap within the next five years.
The Rockland County Legislature has until Dec. 7 to pass a budget.
