Hunts Point is getting a major upgrade to help fortify its infrastructure against natural disasters. 

A proposal submitted by the University of Pennsylvania's School of Design has been approved for $20 million in grants to prevent the kind of damage left behind by Superstorm Sandy from happening again. 

The project, Hunts Point Lifelines, is one of six entries to be chosen to receive special funding as part of a rebuild design competition from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. 

Directors of the project say that strengthening the Hunts Point area is important because it's one of the largest food distributors in the entire world. They say that even though other parts of the tri-state area were awarded more funding, the money is a big win for the Bronx.
