A billboard at Morris Height intersection came crashing down into the middle of the street and in front of a man's car Wednesday afternoon.
Bronx resident Sidney Flores was driving down the intersection of Jerome and West Tremont avenues when he says it fell just feet away from his car.
"My reaction was to slam on the breaks. Thank God no one behind me was close enough to run into me," Flores said.
Multiple huge wood panels were found at the center of the intersection. The remains of the billboard were on the sidewalk blocking the walkway.
A resident who identified himself as Morris and walks the street often says this can be a safety hazard.
"Right now, it's blocking the sidewalk. I think something needs to be done about those billboards, especially the big ones," he said.
Workers on-site for the MTA told News 12 that they will continue to work on the billboard and that the sidewalk should be cleared up by the end of the day on Wednesday.
