As the COVID-19 pandemic forced most people to stay and work from home, many saw the opportunity to make renovations.

But if you're looking to do some remodeling, especially to a kitchen, interior designer Betsy Tauber says plan way ahead as most companies are still grappling with supply chain issues.

"Some of the appliances came in on time. For example, the oven, was really late... The ovens didn't come until, I would say…two months after it was renovated," Tauber says.

"It was definitely frustrating for us... having to wait for the oven," says homeowner Jaime Cohen.

Another client was fortunate to get her indoor-outdoor space done before the state went into lockdown.

If you're looking to spruce up your home to sell in the real estate market, experts say start out front, where you want to make sure your house has a great curb appeal. Once inside, experts say a little paint can do wonders.

"A lot of the colors that people want today are the whites, the grays, the beiges," Tauber says.

Lighting is also key, as well as the countertops.

"If you want to get a little bit more expensive, people actually love quartz countertops, and then subway backsplash, and herringbone backsplash," Tauber says.

Experts also recommend to manage your expectations. Whether selling your home or making renovations, things almost never go according to plan.
