The community came together in Haverstraw Sunday to fundraise in memory of a late 15-year-old North Rockland High School student and aspiring firefighter.
Kenneth John Bermudez Jr., affectionately known as Kenny to his family and friends, died in 2025 of an undiagnosed heart condition.
This annual fundraiser in Kenny's name provides scholarship money to three selected high school seniors.
The scholarship fund has raised about $2,000 since its beginning in 2025.
