Latimer: COVID cases in Westchester continue to decline
Latimer said there were 3,257 active COVID cases across the county, coming down from the Omicron peak just a few weeks ago, when there were over 36,000 cases.

298ds agoWestchester County Executive George Latimer reports that the number of COVID-19 cases continue to go down.
Latimer said there were 3,257 active COVID cases across the county, coming down from the Omicron peak just a few weeks ago, when there were over 36,000 cases.
Latimer also reported 237 hospitalizations Monday, down from the peak of over 700.
"We lost 200 people in the month of January overall. Sixty in the month of December, and seven in the month of November. So those numbers spiked up. We expect a major diminution of fatalities for February as we approach the two-year anniversary of COVID," he said.
The county executive says records indicate most of those dying and hospitalized from the virus are unvaccinated.
Latimer says the Westchester County Center is still taking appointments for those who want to get vaccinated.
