A
new mobile food pantry is now serving communities in need around Westchester.
County
Executive George Latimer joined several other leaders for a ribbon-cutting
ceremony Tuesday at St. Peter's Church in Port Chester.
It's
happening during "National Community Development Block Grant Week"
which is appropriate because through that program, the county was able to get
federal money to help address food insecurity.
The truck will travel to different areas to
deliver food to people in need.
“Not
everybody can get to the food pantry. Not everyone has a car. Not everyone can
even walk - so to provide this type of service is invaluable,” says
Michael Mills, chair of the Urban City Council.
Westchester
County says thousands of people will benefit from this van.
