Lightning hit a tree in northern Westchester Monday and blew out windows in a Cortlandt Manor home. Neighbors say it sounded like a bomb hit the house at 84 Diamond Avenue. Officials, however, say lightning hit a tree that fell onto a metal fence. The lightning then traveled through the fence into the home and blasted out the windows. A mother, her baby and some relatives who were in the house were not injured. Fire officials say there may be structural damage from the blast. Residents of the home are staying with neighbors until the town deems the house safe for their return.
