Police say a local mail carrier and several good Samaritans were honored for risking their lives to save a man from a burning home at the Jefferson Village Senior Living Community last month.
Christopher Perez was on his mail route when he spotted flames and an elderly man still inside the building.
Perez, along with some landscapers, quickly acted to help the man escape, while a neighbor rushed through the complex to alert other residents.
The four individuals were recognized at town hall with certificates for their bravery.
"We always say see something, say something; well, these people saw something and did something," said Yorktown Police Chief Robert Noble.
