Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz to visit children's vaccine clinic in Bridgeport

Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz is expected to visit a children's vaccine clinic in Bridgeport today, after the CDC signed off on booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine for kids 12 to 15.
Bysiewicz will meet with state and local officials at the clinic at St. Raphael Academy at 12 p.m. to highlight the importance of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine and receiving a COVID-19 booster shot when eligible.
The newly approved age group can now get a booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine five months after their initial doses.
Gov. Ned Lamont wrote on Twitter saying, "Get vaccinated and get boosted. It's one of the best tools we have to stay healthy, slow the spread of Omicron, and get back to normal."
Pfizer is the only vaccine authorized for the 5- to 17-year-old group. Federal health officials say anyone who has gotten the Pfizer vaccine is now eligible for a booster five instead of six months after their initial doses.
Boosters have already been recommended for all Americans 16 and older. The CDC director says a booster shot will provide optimized protection against the Omicron variant.
There are several ways to get a booster in Connecticut whether through a health care provider, pharmacy, or at a pop-up clinic.
