Mamaroneck police report 'disheartening' increase in DWI arrests
Mamaroneck police conducted a sobriety checkpoint on July 6, resulting in four DWI arrests.
The checkpoint, which took place from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Mamaroneck Avenue, saw officers check approximately 500 vehicles.
In addition to the DWI arrests, officers made two other arrests and issued 46 traffic tickets unrelated to DWI.
The department reports a concerning rise in DWI arrests this year, with 35 arrests so far compared to 15 during the same period in 2022.
