Mayor Bill de Blasio announced a parade to honor New York City's front-line workers next month.
The mayor says the parade will be an example of the great tradition of ticker tape parades in New York City.
“But this one is going to have a special spirit to it, a special heart and soul because it’s about celebrating everyday New Yorkers who did something so heroic,” de Blasio says.
The mayor says the parade will go up the Canyon of Heroes on July 7.
De Blasio has been promising the parade since 2020.
He says the celebration will be one of the very first big events to welcome people back in what he is calling the “Summer of New York."
