A 21-year-old Middletown man successfully donated a kidney to his sister after she was diagnosed with a life-threatening disease.
Edward McNamara says his sister Micci was diagnosed with kidney disease last fall.
"When we first found out about it, it was like wow, because she was 15 at the time. She's not even out of high school, so I kinda want to be there for her," he says.
On July 20, the siblings underwent nearly four hours of surgery at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in Valhalla.
Doctors have called the operation a success.
"I knew he loved me. I didn't know he would so something so big,” says Micci McNamara.
