A special game on the diamond in Hartsdale showed that baseball is more than just competition; it’s about inclusion, connection, and fun for everyone.
The Miracle League of Westchester hosted an exhibition game on Sunday, bringing together players of all abilities on a specially designed adaptive field. The league provides children and adults with special needs the opportunity to play baseball in a supportive and accessible environment.
Among those helping make the day possible were volunteer “buddies” Ava and Jory Cass, freshmen twins from Ardsley. The sisters assisted players throughout the game, helping ensure their safety while also encouraging them on the field.
The Miracle League of Westchester has been serving the community for two decades. Executive Director Rick Monzon said the league goes far beyond the sport itself.
“It’s a community of participants. There’s no judgment, it’s just fun,” Monzon said.
He also emphasized how valuable the experience is for families, providing both a social outlet and a sense of belonging.
As the game wrapped up, one message was clear: on this field, everyone gets a chance to play, and everyone belongs.
